MERRILLVILLE— Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana is pleased to announce their Bicycle Event: Spinning Spokes, Feeding Folks!
The ride will be held on Sunday, June 10th, kicking off at the Trek Bicycle Store in Schererville. Marty Semrau, an Ambassador and Mentor of the Joyriders at the Trek Store in Schererville stated, “This is a great event with 12-mile and 28-mile trail rides and 25-, 40-, and 62-mile road rides for more experienced riders.”
Check-in begins at 7:00am with an 8:00a.m. start time for the 25-, 40- and 62- miles riders, and a 9:00 a.m. start time for the 12- and 28-mile ride option.
Sandra Noe, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels said, “The event raises awareness for hunger in our community, the impact Meals on Wheels has on the lives of those we serve and their families, and how volunteering for Meals on Wheels changes the life of the volunteer as well as the client. Funds raised will support the mission, helping Meals on Wheels keep the cost of the meal affordable for those in need.”
“We are very excited about the opportunity to support Meals on Wheels,” said Trek Store Event Coordinator Daniela Gehrls, “Meals on Wheels and Trek both support healthy living. Together we promote nutrition and ending hunger, and active lifestyles through cycling.”
2018 Spinning Spokes is supported by Strack & Van Til providing refreshments at the start of the ride and SAG stops. Strack & Van Til is committed to keeping Northwest Indiana healthy and thriving. Their support for Meals on Wheels demonstrates their investment in the community runs deep,” stated Rachel Hurst, Director of Development.
